NATIONAL FOREWORD

The Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 7056 : 1981 'Plastics laboratory ware - Beakers' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Glass, Glassware and Laboratoryware Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

This standard prescribes requirements and methods of sampling and test for plastics graduated and ungraduated beakers for laboratory use. It is applicable to beakers having a tapered or a non-tapered form. The non-tapered form may, however, have a slight taper to facilitate mould release during manufacture.

The standard was first published in 1982. The first revision of the standard has been brought out to align it with the global practices by adopting the ISO 7056 : 1981.

The text of ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appears referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
