Scope

The industrial stainless steel hardwares find wide spread use inoil, petrochemical, drugs and pharmaceutical sector, etc. Thedanger of unexpected failure due to even a small abuse necessitatesthe industrial application of the stainless steel hardware onlyafter a suitable passivation through proper inspection and testing.

This standard covers the processing of stainless steelindustrial equipments, components including pipelines to produce afilm essentially of metal oxides that are intended to be used forcorrosion protection. Methods for testing the corrosion resistanceof passivated industrial hardware have also been specified in thestandard.
