1. Scope

1.1 This standard covers the recommendations on materials, equipment and general workmanship for manual tungsten inert gas arc welding of wrought copper and copper alloys. The recommendations are primarily intended for general engineering application for manual welding of copper and copper alloys up to 20 mm thick with argon, helium, nitrogen or a combination thereof as shielding gas.

1.1.1 This standard does not stipulate allowable stresses in welds. The provisions of this standard are also not applicable for repair of castings by welding.
