NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 1/Sec 2) which is identical with ISO 1513 : 2010 ‘Paints and varnishes - Examination and preparation of test samples’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Paints, Varnishes and related Products, Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.
This standard was originally published in 1950 and subsequently revised in 1961, 1964 and 1987. In the third revision, the standard superseded 4 of IS 101 : 1964 ‘Methods of test for ready mixed paints and enamels (second revision)’. During the formulation of this standard the considerable assistance was derived from ISO 1513 : 1980 ‘Paints and varnishes - Examination and preparation of samples for testing’, issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
