NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2/Sec 4) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 11890-2 : 2020 ‘Paints and varnishes - Determination of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and/or semi volatile organic compounds (SVOC) content - Part 2: Gas-chromatographic method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Paints, Varnishes and Related Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

This Indian Standard was originally published in 2016 by adopting ISO 11890-2 : 2013. The first revision of this Standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 11890-2 : 2020.

The major changes in this revision are as follows:

a) the scope has been expanded to include the determination of semi volatile organic compounds (SVOC);

b) the scope has been expanded to include concentration ranges from 0.01 percent to 100 percent; and

c) the specification for determination of semi-volatile organic compounds have been added.
