1 Scope

1.1 This standard (Part 1) covers generalconditions applicable to all the climatic and mechanical robustnesstests and lists all the tests with their severities useful in theenvironmental assessment of optical instruments.

1.2 The standard does not include testing procedures and alsodoes not indicate the specific tests to be conducted on aparticular instrument, the severity to be chosen or the performanceto be expected. These may be covered by the different parts of thisstandard and by the relevant instrument specification preparedparticularly for that instrument.
