1. Scope

1.1 This standard prescribes requirements of design, construction and performance and laboratory and practical tests for closed-circuit types of breathing apparatus in which the exhaled air is re-breathed by the wearer after the carbon dioxide concentration has been effectively reduced and the oxygen concentration enriched. It is used either with a full faccpicce or with mouthpiece and noseclip. It uses oxygen from a cylinder of compressed oxygen.

1.2 This standard excludes breathing apparatus which operate on liquid oxygen and chemically produced oxygen.
