IS 10287 : 2023/ISO 838 : 1974 Paper - Holes for General Filing Purposes - Specification
Revised Standard from Last Update.
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards after the draft finalized by the Paper and its Products Sectional Committee, had been approved by the Chemical Division Council.
For an efficient filing system, it is essential that the records are maintained in a neat manner and the time taken for filing papers is minimum. This is possible if the holes made in paper, for general filing, are specified with respect to their arrangement and dimensions. Further specification of these characteristics of holes, will aid in the manufacture of punches and files having compatible mechanisms.
This standard was originally published in 1982. Since the earlier version of this standard was based on ISO 838 : 1974 ‘Paper - Holes for general filing purposes - Specifications' issued by the International Organization for Standardization, the committee decided to further revise the standard by adoption of ISO 838 on dual number basis.
