1 SCOPE
1.1 This part lays down the fire safety requirements in river valley projects covering the following components and aspects:
a) Main components, such as dams, canals, tunnels, penstocks, control structures, valve houses, distribution stations, transformer and switch yards.
b) Buildings both permanent and temporary
c) Forest - Where most of the river valley projects are located either in hills or foot hills.
d) Hydropower stations and their allied equipment.
1.2 This standard is intended to be of use during the construction, operation as well as maintenance periods, for the fire safety of river valley projects. Utmost care should be taken in fire precautions during the construction time of the project as it is the busiest period for various activities and on account of large deployment of men and material.
