IS 10438 : 2024/ISO 5990 : 2000 Potassium Sulphite, 650 g/l Aqueous Solution for Photographic Industry - Specification
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 5990 : 2000 'Photography -Processing chemicals - Specifications for potassium sulfite, 650 g/l solution' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Electroplating Chemicals and Photographic Materials Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.
The specification lays down chemical and physical requirements for 650g/l aqueous solution of potassium sulphite. This standard was first published in 1983 by taking assistance from ISO/DIS 5990 : 1978 Photographic grade potassium sulphite, 650 g/l aqueous solution - Specification, prepared by International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Now this standard has been revised by adopting ISO 5990 : 2000 on dual number basis.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appears referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
