NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 1) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 6966-1 : 2005 ‘Aircraft ground equipment - Basic requirements - Part 1: General design requirements’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Aircraft, Space Vehicles, Air Cargo Handling and Aircraft Electrical Equipment Sectional Committee and approval of the Transport Engineering Division Council.
This standard was earlier published as IS 10494 : 1983 ‘General requirements for air cargo loading equipment’ based on ISO 6966 : 1963. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken with a view to bring it in line with the latest version of ISO 6966 published in two parts. This standard is also published in two parts. Part 2 Safety requirements
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
