NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 5/Sec 13) which is identical with ISO 5636-4 : 2013 ‘Paper and board - Determination of air permeance (medium range) - Part 4: Sheffield method’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Paper and its Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

Considering the importance of following uniform practices globally, the Committee felt that it would be more convenient to prepare standard on Sheffield Method by adoption of ISO 5636-4 on dual number basis. This method would be of assistance to the manufacturers for controlling of the quality of their products and to the consumers for ascertaining that they receive material of acceptable quality. This Indian standard would be a part of IS 1060 series of standards.
