This Indian Standard (Part 7/Sec 1) (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 2759 : 2014 'Board - Determination of bursting strength' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Paper and its Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

The bursting strength is a measure of the resistance of a material to rupture when pressure is applied to its surface. The bursting strength reflects the bond strength of paper and board.
