NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 4) (Third Revision) which is identical with ISO 22514- 4 : 2016 ‘Statistical methods in process management — Capability and performance — Part 4: Process capability estimates and performance measures’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Statistical Methods for Quality and Reliability Sectional Committee and approval of the Management and Systems Division Council.

This standard was originally published as IS 10645 in 1983 and subsequently revised in 1998 and 2004. The same was subsequently superseded by IS 10645/ISO 22514 Parts 1 - Part 3. Part 4 is being adopted for the first time.

This Indian Standard is published in four parts. The other parts in this series are:

Part 1 General principles and concepts

Part 2 Process capability and performance of time-dependent process models

Part 3 Machine performance studies for measured data on discrete parts

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
