IS 1068 : 1993 Eletroplated coatings of nickle plus chromium and copper plus nickel plus chromium

1 Scope

1.1 This standard covers requirements for nickel plus chromiumand for copper plus nickel plus chromium electrodeposited coatingsthat are applied to iron, steel, zinc alloys, copper and copperalloys, and aluminium and aluminium alloys to provide an attractiveappearance and corrosion resistance. Several classes of coatingsare provided that differ in thickness and type and guidance isgiven in selecting the coating class appropriate to the serviceconditions to which the coated product will be exposed.

1.2 This standard does not specify the surface conditionrequired by the basis metal prior to the coating process.

1.3 This standard is not applicable to coatings on sheet, stripor wire in the unfabricated form nor to threaded fasteners or coilsprings.
