1. Scope

1.1 This standard Jays down requirements for classification, general quality, dimensions and physical requirements of common burnt clay building bricks used in buildings.

NOTE - Burnt clay bricks having compressive strength less than 40 N/nlln2 ( approx 400 kgf/cm') are covered in this standard and for higher strength, see IS 2180 : 1988.
