NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 6)(First Revision) which is identical with IEC 60489-6 : 1999 ‘Radio equipment used in mobile services - Methods of measurement - Part 6: Data equipment’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Transmitting Equipment for Radio Communication Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1994 identical with IEC Pub 489-6 : 1987. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of IEC 60489-6 : 1999 to make pace with the latest international practices.

This standard is published in various parts. The other parts in this series are:

Part 1 General definitions and conditions of measurement

Part 2 Transmitters employing A3E, F3E or G3E emissions

Part 5 Receivers employing single-sideband techniques (R3E, H3E or J3E)

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions and terminologies are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
