NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 1754 : 1986 ‘Photography - Cameras using 35 mm and 16 mm film - Picture sizes’, issued by the international Organization for Standardization ( ISO ), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of the Photographic Equipment Sectional Committee ( L.MD 24) and approval of the Light Mechanical Engineering Division Council.

The original version of this standard, IS 10906 : 1984 ‘Picture sizes in photographic cameras using films 35 mm and smaller’ was based on ISO 1754 : 974 ‘Photography - Cameras using films 35 mm and smaller - Picture sizes’, issued by the International Organization for Standardization ( ISO ). Hormonization of the standard with International Standard has been made by the adoption of ISO 1754 : 1986.

In the adopted standard certain terminology and conventions are not identical with those used in Indian Standards; attenion is especially drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard.’

b) Comma ( , ) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standard the current practice is to use a point ( . ) as the decimal marker.
