NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 4) which is identical with ISO 12945-4 : 2020 ‘Textiles - Determination of fabric propensity to surface pilling, fuzzing or matting - Part 4 : Assessment of Pilling, Fuzzing and matting by visual analysis’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Physical Methods of Test Sectional Committee and approval of the Textiles Division Council.

Previously, ISO 12945 series was published in two parts only. Subsequently, two more parts have been added in this series, one on random pilling method (Part 3) and other on method for assessment of fabric propensity (Part 4). Earlier the method for assessment of fabric propensity was specified in all three parts (Part 1 to Part 3) itself.
