NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 6412-1 : 2017 ‘Technical product documentation — Simplified representation of pipelines — Part 1: General rules and orthogonal representation’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Drawings Sectional Committee and approval of the Production and General Engineering Division Council.

This standard was originally published in 1984 as ‘Code of practice for industrial piping diagrams’ and subsequently revised in 1991 into two parts in harmonization with the ISO. First revision of this standard was identical adoption of ISO 6412-1 : 1989. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 6412-1.
