NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 717-2 : 2020 ‘Acoustics - Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements - Part 2: Impact sound insulation’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Functional Requirements in Buildings Sectional Committee and approval of the Civil Engineering Division Council.

This Indian Standard was first published in 1984, which was identical with ISO 717 (Part 2) : 1982. This revision aligns with the latest version of ISO 717 (Part 2) and supersedes IS 11050 (Part 2) : 1984 ‘Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements: Part 2 Impact sound insulation’. Therefore, IS 11050 (Part 2) is withdrawn with the publication of this standard.
