IS 11182 : Part 1 : 1984 Guide for evaluation of insulation systems of electrical equipment: Part 1 Identification, evaluation and ageing mechanisms

1 Scope

1.1 This standard (Part 1) is a guide for Technical Committeesengaged in developing specifications for evaluation andidentification of insulation systems in particular equipment. It isnot the purpose of this guide to establish codification standardsfor the operational life of electrical equipment but rather tosupply a framework within which standards for insulation systemscan ultimately be established by the appropriate EquipmentTechnical Committee.

Note - This guide relates to insulation system aspects only.Insulation is not the only determinant of equipment life.

1.2 This standard (Part 1) covers guidance on identification andevaluation of insulation systems and describes mechanism of ageingof insulation systems and methods of ascertaining correlation ofageing in tests and in actual service.
