IS 11255 : Part 3 : 2008 Methods for Measurement of Emissions from Stationary Sources - Part 3 : Flow Rate

ICS 13.040.40 CHD 35

1 Scope

1.1 This standard (Part 3) prescribes a method fordetermination of flow rate of a gas stream in confinedspaces, like stacks and duct.

1.1.1 Methods for determination of stack gas velocity, temperature, static and differential pressure, moisturecontent and molecular weight of stack gasesnecessitates measurement of these parameters for flowrate determination.

1.1.2 Gas flow in a large industrial stack or ductsmay be steady and well mixed across the diameterof the stack, in such case any sample taken at anytime and from any place in the stack will berepresentative. But for most such stacks the velocityand concentration in stack vary from point to pointand time-to-time therefore many separate measurementmust be made and averaged for determination of flowrate.
