NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 3/Sec 2) which is identical with ISO 16911-2 : 2013 ‘Stationary source emissions — Manual and Automatic determination of Velocity and volume flowrate in ducts - Part 2: Automated measurement systems’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Environmental Management Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.

Deterioration in air quality due to pollution is a pertinent global problem. Monitoring industrial emissions so as to minimize its environmental & health effects is a major concern in a developing economy like India. Automated measurement systems (AMS) help in continuous monitoring of emissions from industrial stacks.

Proper methodologies must be adopted for calibration, validation and quality assurance of automated measurement systems to ensure minimum uncertainty and maximum reliability.
