This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to IEC 60674-3-4 : 2022 'Plastic films for electrical purposes - Part 3: Specifications for individual materials – Sheet 4: Polyimide films used for electrical insulation' issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Solid Electrical Insulating Materials and Insulation Systems Sectional Committee and approval of the Electrotechnical Division Council.
This standard was First published in 1998 identical to IEC 60674-3-4 : 1993. This revision has been undertaken to align this standard with the latest International Standard of IEC 60674-3-4 : 2022.
This standard (Part 3/Sec 5 to 7) is one of the series of Indian Standards which deals with plastic films for electrical purposes. The series consists of the following parts:
Part 1 Definitions and general requirements
Part 2 Methods of test
Part 3 Specifications for individual materials
This standard (Part 3/Sec 5 to 7) covers the requirements for polyimide films used for electrical insulation.
The text of the IEC standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appears referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
