NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 3) (First Revision) which is identical with ISO 7487-3 : 1986 ‘Information processing - Data interchange on 130 mm (5.25 in) flexible disk cartridges using modified frequency modulation recording at 7 958 ftprad, 1,9 tpmm (48 tpi), on both sides - Part 3: Track format B’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Computer Hardware, Peripherals and Identification Cards Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.
This standard was originally published in 1986 and was based on ISO 7487-3 : 1984. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 7487-3 : 1986.
This Indian Standard is published in three parts. Other parts in this series are:
Part 1 Physical and magnetic characteristics
Part 2 Track format A
The corrigendum 1 : 1991 to ISO 7487-3 : 1986 issued by ISO is a necessary adjunct to this standard, which is appended at the end of this standard.
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
(i) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
(ii) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
