This Indian Standard which is identical with IEC Pub 421 : 1973`Portable prospecting radiation meters with Geiger-Muller countertube (linear scale instruments)', issued by the InternationalElectrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the IndianStandards Institution on the recommendation of the NuclearInstrumentation Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronicsand Telecommunication Division Council.

Wherever the words `International Standard' appear, referring tothis standard, they should be read as `Indian Standard'.
