This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 5396 : 1977`Hardmetal heading dies - Terminology' issued by the InternationalOrganization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the IndianStandards Institution on the recommendations of Small ToolsSectional Committee and approved by the Mechanical EngineeringDivision Council.

In the adopted standard certain terminology and conventions arenot identical with those used in Indian Standards. Wherever thewords `International Standard' appear referring to this standard,they shall be read as `Indian Standard.'
