IS 11752 : 2024/ISO 3627 : 2001 Sodium Metabisulphite, Anhydrous, Photographic Grade - Specification
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 3627 : 2001 'Photography - Processing chemicals - Specifications for anhydrous sodium metabisulfite' issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Electroplating Chemicals and Photographic Materials Sectional Committee and approval of the Chemical Division Council.
The specification for sodium metabisulphite, photographic grade was earlier covered under IS 248 :1978 along with technical grade of the material. This standard was originally formulated covering only the photographic grade of the material in 1986 under the title 'Specification for Sodium Metabisulphite, Photographic Grade' and the photographic grade was deleted from IS 248.
Now this standard has been revised by adopting ISO 3627 : 2001 on dual number basis. Accordingly, the title is being modified to 'Sodium metabisulphite, anhydrous, photographic grade - Specification'.
The text of the ISO standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
