IS 11769 : Part 2 : 2005 Guidelines for Safe Use of Products Containing Asbestos Part 2 Friction Materials

1 Scope

1.1 This standard (Part 2) lays down the guidelinesfor safe use of ti-iction material containing asbestos.

1.2 These guidelines are applicable to asbestoscontaining friction material (mould and woven)(see Fig. 1), such as:

a) Brake lining materials in roll, strip or sheetform;

b) Brake blocks;

c) Brake liners;

d) Brake lining segments;

e) Disc brake pads;

f) Clutch facings;

g) Automotive transmission discs and bandliners; and

h) Industrial brake linings and-clutch facings, etc.
