Reaffirmed 2019

1 Scope

1.1 This standard covers the procedures for determination ofcontent of diffusible hydrogen in deposited weld metal arising fromthe use of shielded metal arc electrodes for welding mild and lowalloy steels by mercury and glycerin methods. For glycerin method, the values reported shall be in terms of evaluation by mercurymethod using the formula given in Appendix A. The glycerin methodshall be used as a routine method. The mercury method shall be usedas a referee method in case of disputes, in addition to being usedas a routine method.
