1 Scope
1.1 Macroetching is the etching of specimen for examination atlow magnifications and is used to reveal the microstructure oftitanium alloys products, such as bar, billets, forgings andcastings. The present procedure is intended to be followed forclassifying titanium alloys by a graded series showing thecharacteristic structure and incidence of certain processingdefects. This method is limited in application to titanium alloybillets, forgings and castings.
