IS 12421 : 1988 Performance verification of liquid scintillation counting systems

1 Scope

1.1 This standard covers the performance verification of liquidscintillation counting systems. The measures of performanceconsidered in this standard are:

a) Counting system efficiency, and

b) Reproducibility of sample and background count rates.

1.2 This standard does not cover the calculation of sampleactivity for quenched unknown samples. Accordingly, this standardwill not deal with sample preparation, efficiency correlation(quench correction) procedures, or the identification of unknownradionuclides.
