IS 12430 : 1987 Safety code for installation, maintenance and servicing of sterlizers

1 Scope

1.1 This safety code gives guidance to hospitals and other usersof sterilizers regarding the choice, purchase, installation,testing and commissioning, use, maintenance and servicing of steamsterilizers used for porous loads, fluids in sealed containers andunwrapped instruments and utensils. It gives similar guidance onelectrically heated sterilizing ovens (hot air sterilizers).

1.2 Guidelines on sterilizers working on low temperatureethylene oxide, formaldehyde, and radiation shall be consideredseparately.

1.3 The sterilizers described in this code may not be suitable(without modification) for safely processing of articles infectedwith Category A pathogens*.
