IS 12431 : 1988 Helical-scan video tape cassette system using 12.65 mm magnetic tape on type VHS

1 Scope

1.1 This standard is applicable to magnetic video recordingusing 12.65 mm (0.5 in) tape cassettes on two-hand helical-scanvideo cassette recorders and defines the basic VHS formal videocassette system of 50 Hz- 625 lines.

1.2 This standard defines the electrical and mechanicalcharacteristics of equipment which will provide for theinterchangeability of recorded cassettes. The requirements givenrelate to 625 line 50 field systems.
