IS 12456 : 2004 Fire Protection of Electronic Data Processing Installation - Code of Practice

1 Scope

This standard lays down the minimum requirements for the protection ofelectronic computer/data processing equipment from damage by fire coveringthe structural environment and its protection.

Note 1 - The requirements contained in this standard are applicable toinstallations for commercial electronic data processing (EDP) andindustrial process control where substantial material damage and/orbusiness interruption losses could occur. They are not intended to covertabletop or desk type computers or remote terminals or micro-processors(having limited value concentration) although they may be used as a guidefor the protection of this type of equipment. This document may also beuseful where a small group of desk type computers are installed in acertain location.

Note 2 - Software installations situated in electronic and industrialparks may also use this standard as a guide for protection of theirequipment.
