Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 5776 : 2016 ‘Graphic technology - Symbols for text proof correction’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the ‘Publication and Graphic Technology Sectional Committee’ and approval of the ‘Management and Systems Division Council’.

This standard was originally published in 1958. This first revision has been undertaken to align it with ISO 5776 : 2016 in order to keep pace with the latest international practices.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
