Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This draft standard (First Revision) which is identical to ISO 4492 : 2017 ‘Metallic powders, excluding powders for hardmetals - Determination of dimensional changes associated with compacting and sintering’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Powder Metallurgical Materials and Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Metallurgical Engineering Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1988. The first revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 4492 : 2017 in dual numbering system to harmonize it with latest developments that have taken place at international level. The major changes in this revision are as follows:

a) In Fig. 1 design of lower punch and upper punch are separately provided which are used for producing circular and rectangular test pieces; and

b) Additional Fig. 3 provided for Ppocedure of compaction and ejection of test piece.
