Revised Standard from Last Update.

NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Second Revision) which is identical with ISO 11950 : 2016 ?Cold-reduced tinmill products - Electrolytic chromium/chromium oxide-coated steel’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Wrought Steel Products Sectional Committee and approval of the Metallurgical Engineering Division Council.

This Indian Standard was originally published in 1988 and subsequently revised in 2006. The first revision was based on ISO 11950 : 1995 ‘Cold-reduced electrolytic chromium/chromium oxide-coated steel’. The second revision of this standard has been undertaken to align it with the latest version of ISO 11950 : 2016.

The major changes in this revision are as follows:

a) In scope, range of thickness is increased.

b) New clauses introduced on general technical delivery conditions and classification and inspection documents.

c) Clause on manufacturing features, mechanical properties, tolerance on dimensions, coating and shape, sampling, test method, retests, dispatch and packing has been modified.

d) Clause 7, specific requirement of earlier standard has been removed and the requirement of standard grade tinplate has been covered in Note 1 under standard grade tinplate sheet.

e) Two new Normative Annexes (A & B) have been added providing grades for classifying mechanical properties in terms of hardness and tensile strength respectively.
