NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Second Revision) which is identical with 1SO 3093 : 2009 ‘Wheat, rye and their flours, durum wheat and durum wheat semolina - Determination of the falling number according to Hagberg-Perten’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Foodgrains, Allied Products and Other Agricultural Produce Sectional Committee and approval of the Food and Agriculture Division Council.

This standard was first published in 1988 and subsequently revised in 2010 to align it with ISO 3093 : 2004 ‘Wheat, rye and respective flours, durum wheat and durum wheat semolina - Determination of the falling number according to Hagberg-Perten(first revision)’. This second revision has also been undertaken to align the standard with the latest version of ISO 3093 which has replaced ISO 3093 : 2004 after incorporation of technical changes.

The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain conventions and terminologies are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
