This Indian Standard (Part 1), which is identical with ISO3511/1 : 1977 `Process measurement control functions andinstrumentation - Symbolic representation - Part 1 : Basicrequirements' issued-by the International Organization forStandardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of IndianStandards on 18 August 1989 on the recommendation of the ChemicalEngineering Sectional Committee (HMD 17/EDC 57) and approval of theHeavy Mechanical Engineering Division Council.
