This Indian Standard (Part 1), which is identical with ISO1073/1 : 1976 `Alphanumeric character sets for optical recognition- Part 1 : Character set OCR-A - Shapes and dimensions of theprinted image', issued by the International Organization forStandardization (ISO), was adopted by the Bureau of IndianStandards on 6 February 1989 on the recommendation of theComputers, Business Machines and Calculators Sectional Committee(LTDC 24) and approval of the Electronics and TelecommunicationDivision Council.
