  1 Scope
1.1 This standard (Part 2) covers the method for determinationof deformation modulus of rock in-situ using an expanding, probe(dilatometer) to exert pressure on the walls of a drillhole. Theresulting hole expansion (dilation) is measured directly by adisplacement transducer in the probe. Deformability characteristicsof the rock mass at the dilatometer location may be calculated fromthe relation between pressure dilation. Anisotropy of deformabilityin the plane perpendicular to the drillhole may also be determined.
