IS 12968 : 1991 Steel castings for crankshafts for marine engines

1 Scope

1.1 This standard covers the requirements for carbon andcarbon-manganese steel castings for semi-built and fully builtcrankshafts for marine engines.

1.2 Notwithstanding what is stated in this specification, therequirements as laid down in the rules for manufacture, testing andcertification of castings of a Classification Society for which aship is being built, which the ship builder specifies in hisenquiry and order, are to be complied with, in all respects. Forthis purpose it is necessary that the purchaser gives the requiredparticulars to the foundry at the time of enquiry and order.
