NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 2) which is identical with IEC 60748-2 : 1997 ‘Semiconductor devices — Integrated circuits — Part 2: Digital integrated circuits’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Semiconductor Devices Components and Electronic Assembly Technology Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS 12970 (Part 2/Sec 1 to 3) and IS 12970 (Part 3/Sec 1 to 3) [total 6 standards) were first published in the year 1992-1993. All six standards were based on IEC Pub 748-2. This revision is being published combine all six standards to align it with the latest version of IEC 60748-2: 1997. On publication of this standards1) IS 12970 (Part 2/Sec 1) : 1992, 2) IS 12970 (Part 2/Sec 2) : 1993, 3) IS 12970 (Part 2/ Sec 3) : 1993, 4) IS 12970 (Part 3/Sec 1) : 1992, 5) IS 12970 (Part 3/Sec 2) : 1992 and 6) IS 12970 (Part 3/ Sec 3) : 1992 stands withdrawn.

The text of IEC Standard may be approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
