Reaffirmed 2023
NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 3) which is identical with ISO/IEC Guide 21-2 : 2005 ‘Regional or national adoption of International Standards and other International Deliverables — Part 2: Adoption of International Deliverables other than International Standards’ issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) jointly was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Documentation and Information Sectional Committee and approval of the Management and Systems Division Council.
IS 12 was originally published in 1949 and was subsequently revised in 1958, 1964, 1988 and 2005. In the present revision of IS 12, ISO/IEC Guide 21-1 and ISO/IEC Guide 21-2 are being adopted separately as Part 2 and Part 3 of IS 12. In this standard, adoption of International Standards in Indian Standards erstwhile Section 2 of IS 12 : 2005 has been included as National Annex B.
This Indian Standard is published in three parts. The other parts in this series are:
Part 1 Preparation of Indigenous Standard
Part 2 Adoption of International Standards
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
