IS 13231 : 1991 Warming Plates - Specification

1 Scope

Clause 1 of IS 302 : 1979 is applicable except as follows:

1.1 Replacement

This standard covers the electric warming plates, warming traysan similar devices for keeping the food or food vessels warm forhousehold and similar purposes.

Note - Appliances not intended for normal household use butwhich nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public such asthe appliances intended to be used by persons in canteens andrestaurants are within the scope of this standard.

1.2 Replacement

This standard does not apply to :

i) appliances made of flexible material such as textilematerials

ii) appliances intended to be used in location where specialconditions prevail such as the presence of a corrosive or explosiveatmosphere (dust, vapour or gas), and

iii) appliances designed exclusively for commercial catering orindustrial purposes.
