NATIONAL FOREWORD

This Indian Standard (Part 1) (First Revision) which is identical with IEC 60939-1 : 2010 ‘Passive filter units for electromagnetic interference suppression - Part 1: Generic specification’ issued by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on recommendation of the Semiconductor Devices Components and Electronic Assembly Technology Sectional Committee and approval of the Electronics and Information Technology Division Council.

IS 13247 (Part 1) was first published in 1993 and was based on IEC Pub 939-1 (1988). IS 3723 (Part 1, 2 and 3) were based on IEC Doc 40 (Sectt) 355. The Scope of IS 3723 (Part 1, 2 and 3) and IS 13247 (Part 1) is similar. This revision is being published to align it with the latest version of IEC 60939-1 : 2010. On publication of this standard IS 3723 (Part 1) : 1978, IS 3723 (Part 2) : 1983 and IS 3723 (Part 3) : 1983 will stands withdrawn.

The text of IEC Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:

a) Wherever the words ‘International Standard’ appear referring to this standard, they should be read as ‘Indian Standard’.

b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
