IS 13286 : 1992 Surface Spread of Flame for Thermal Insulation Materials - Methods of Test

1 Scope

1.1 This Indian Standard prescribes the methods of test fordetermining surface spread of flame for thermal insulationmaterials.

1.2 Two methods of tests have been prescribed for determiningthe tendency of thermal insulation materials to support the spreadof flame across their surface, namely, a large-scale test forexposed surfaces of walls and ceilings and a small scale surfacespread of flame test suitable for preliminary testing fordevelopment and quality control purposes.

Note - There is no direct correlation between these two tests.
