NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard (Part 3) (Second Revision) which is identical to ISO 1496-3 : 2019 'Series 1 freight containers - Specification and testing - Part 3: Tank containers for liquids, gases and pressurized dry bulk' issued by International Organization for Standardization (ISO) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendations of Freight Containers Sectional Committee and after approval of the Transport Engineering Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1992. This revision has been brought out align it with ISO 1496-3 : 1995. This revision has been brought out to align it with the latest version of ISO 1496-3.
This standard is one of the parts of standards published on 'Series 1 freight containers - Specification and testing'. Other parts of the standards in this series are:

The text of ISO standard has been approved for publication as an Indian Standard without deviations. Certain terminologies and conventions are, however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is particularly drawn to the following:
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as 'Indian Standard'; and
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker, while in Indian Standards, the current practice is to use a point (.) as the decimal marker.
